You made it!

You made it!

Does that graphic look familiar to you? I hope so, because it was at no small expense that I was able to get physical copies in my hands in time for you to experience an instant memetic response. If you did, it was worth the fifty bucks even if my family eats dried ramen for the next couple of days because now, you and I have a winking connection in at least one direction. I think that’s great, and someday I hope we achieve full duplex.

I believe it’s possible. I really mean it. Usually when people say things to me that demonstrate they aren’t to be trusted, such as “trust me,” “I’m not gonna lie to you” or “I really mean it,” I approach whatever they say afterward with skepticism. And that, new friend, is exactly how I hope you approach anything you read here.

The point of this platform is grass-fed, free-range editorialism on topics focused mostly on viral technology and the Products it creates. Usually, but not always, I’m going to find my center on apparently small snowballs that have huge impacts on Big Tech and to humanity writ large because that’s one of those things I’m inexhaustibly interested in. I want to believe you found your way to this website because you are, too.

For now, only nerds who use RSS can “subscribe.” Most things I really want people to read will be propagated to LinkedIn, and eventually I will syndicate to the Fediverse.

I turned off signups, membership levels, newsletter subscriptions, comment sections… anything that made me feel at odds with my convictions. You can read things here or engage with me if you like. “Why on earth would someone make decisions like that,” you may reasonably wonder, “if the intention is to capture engagement?” Well, the answer is as simple as it is barely reasonable in this, the year 2025.

Your attention is among your most treasured human qualities, and not to be held captive. I only want it when you choose to spend it with me.

So for now, my curious friends and peers who maybe pick up abandoned business cards they find lying around at tech conferences, roam free. Eat lots of grass.
